The Galactic Republic was a faction that ruled over the galaxy before the formation of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY. It had brought peace and justice throughout the galaxy for years before the start of the Clone Wars and its reorganization into the Galactic Empire and the execution of Order 66. The loyal members of the Republic would join with rebel forces, some surviving Jedi, and members of the Separatist Alliance in the future to create the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
